In 2019, Andrew’s daughter, MacKenzie Grace Louden was born at 27 weeks weighing 1lb due to extreme health complications with her mother. MacKenzie would go on to need to spend the next 3 months in the NICU. Against all odds MacKenzie surpassed all the vital hurdles to begin her life and was growing and progressing, just as Andrew’s love was with her. Unfortunately on day 20, Andrew lost his beautiful baby girl to Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC). The disease was swift and in less than 12 hours MacKenzie was not longer with him. Instead of celebrating first doctor appointments, first birthday, first holidays, Andrew was filling out which funeral home would pick her up and how his last hours with her were dwindling every second.
While MacKenzie’s physical life and legacy is complete, her spiritual is far from it. In 2020, Andrew created the nonprofit, MacKenzie’s Marvelous Adventures. MacKenzie’s Marvelous Adventures pledges to give supplies, education, funding, and all other support for families that have, had, and will have children in the NICU, as well as providing funds in the search for a cure for NEC.
